Over 200 performers joined forces for a choreographed performance prior to the UEFA Europa League final at St. Jakob-Park, Basel, on Wednesday 18 May.
The world-renowned artist DJ Schiller and singer Arlissa performed on the pitch alongside dancers from a local school in Rheinfelden and a professional dance group from Germany
The artistic concept behind the ceremony has been created by Polish agency Platige Image together with world-class choreographer Waldek Szymkowiak. Platige Image, revered worldwide for using technologically advanced solutions in events and TV production, was also in charge of the implementation of last year’s UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup opening ceremonies in Warsaw and Tbilisi respectively.
The opening ceremony was a tribute to the finalists and the passion which took them to the showpiece. Schiller and Arlissa performed their new song ‘Not in Love’, while their show also featured a number of local artists, including the Swiss national rhythmic gymnastics team and performers from nearby dance school Tanz Atelier Rheinfelden. A professional dance group from Germany made a guest appearance.
Choreography: Waldek Szymkowiak and William Alfonso Sánchez Herrera.
